PHYSICAL EMPATHY is a choreographic fiction that engages physiotherapeutic dialogues between bodies and objects. Through different healthcare practices such as massage, movement assistance, dancing and singing, affective connections are being explored and altered. Here, the concept that care is always something careful, is broken up at some points, because breathing life into non-living objects requires technique as well as struggles, and a little magic. By paying attention to the powerful labour, but also exploitation and oppression, of historical and contemporary caregivers, PHYSICAL EMPATHY invites speculations on what healthcare was, is, and could be.
