Physical Empathy

Physical Empathy is a choreographic fiction which engages in physiotherapeutic dialogues between bodies and objects. Through different healthcare practices such as massage, movement assistance, dancing and singing, affective connections are being explored and altered. Here, the concept that care is always something careful, is broken up at some points, because breathing life into non-living objects requires technique as well as struggles, and a bit of magic. By paying attention to the powerful labour, but also exploitation and oppression, of historical and contemporary caregivers, Physical Empathy invites speculations on what healthcare was, is, and could be.
